What to include in your first message
You do not need to include sensitive details in your initial email. A short message with your name, the best way to reach you, and a one-sentence description of the situation is enough. We will respond to set up a call.
If you are facing a deadline — for example, a severance agreement, a deadline to file an internal complaint, or a meeting where you expect to be terminated — say so. Statutes of limitations and contractual deadlines can be short.
Confidentiality
We treat all initial communications as confidential. Sending an email does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship; that begins only after a written engagement agreement is signed.
Please do not include privileged or highly sensitive documents in your first email. We will discuss the safest way to share materials after we connect.
If you are still employed
If you are still employed and are reading this from a work device or a work email account, please contact us from a personal device and a personal email instead. Employers can lawfully monitor company devices and accounts in many circumstances.
